COVID-19 Vaccination Recommendation

Salam brothers and sisters,

The BOT (board of trustees) of the ICM (Islamic Center of Morgantown) recommends all brothers and sisters to follow CDC guidelines and major Islamic organizations recommendations in getting vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. The following organizations have determined the vaccines as halal and/or recommended to receive to prevent death and disability and reduce the transmission of the virus to your fellow Muslims:

The Fiqh Council of North America, Islamic Society of North America, Islamic Circle of North America, Muslim American Society, Fiqh Academy of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Saudi Arabia, Dar al-Iftaa(Egypt), Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, Taiwan Halal Certification Bodies, Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America, Assembly of Muslim Jourist of America, Wifaqul Ulama(UK), Australian Fatwa Council, Fatwa Council of the United Arab Emirates, etc.

Please do your due diligence in finding reputable research regarding the vaccines. We are blessed with many medical professionals in our community who can help answer your questions.

As stated by the Fiqh Council of North America, “In short, after due consultation with our medical experts at Initiative on Islam and Medicine, we at the Fiqh Council consider the above mentioned two vaccines(Pfizer/Moderna) permissible (Halal), and advise the community to receive COVID vaccines with due consultation with and advice of their physicians. We also ask Muslims to play their role in debunking baseless rumors and myths about the vaccine. Let us perform our duty of enjoining good and stopping evil and facilitate human transition from this global pandemic to global normalcy. May Allah SWT take this pandemic away from us. Ameen.”
